The official currency in Hungary is the Hungarian Forint (HUF or Ft). We have not yet entered the Euro zone, but the Euro currency is accepted in some places.

Changing money on the streets is definitely not recommended!
Having your credit card at all times is useful, but do have some cash on you too, as credit cards are not accepted everywhere.

Language

The Hungarian language is one of the most difficult languages to learn or even to understand. But with the help of our fluent English speaking guides you don't need to take any dictionaries with you.
However, our young generation speaks at least one foreign language, as it is compulsory for them at school.  So do not hesitate to communicate with Hungarians, we are friendly and happy to help.

Hungary has always been able to maintain its traditional cuisine all through the centuries. When people think of Hungarian food, the first dish that comes to mind is the Goulash (it is an artistically prepared thick SOUP). Don't miss it!! Yet there are many other delicious traditional dishes that have to be experienced before leaving the country such as paprika chicken, halászlé (fish soup), excellent fresh-water fish (grilled pike-perch, trout with almonds) and a homemade pörkölt (meat stew), Budapest steak and many more. Another famous food is goose liver, which can be enjoyed cold or hot, fried or grilled. Yummy local desserts: somloi galuska, dobos cake, beigli (around Xmas)

Weather

Hungary’s climate is continental. In other words: there is perfect outdoor activity weather in Budapest between the months of March-October (20°C-35°C). 

Four seasons, as it should be, so from the end of November-February can be cold and snowy (10°C-minus 5°C), otherwise shorts and T-shirt are enough to wear on the streets.
